In 1994, Jungju Kim founded NEXON Corporation and successfully launched the world’s first multiplayer online graphic game “Kingdom of the Winds.” That game has pioneered a new massive global market, the Online Game Industry, which today exceeds in size and growth most traditional entertainment markets, such as film or television.
NEXON’s beloved franchises and virtual worlds, such as KartRider, Maplestory and Dungeon&Fighter, as have been played by billions of gamers worldwide, propelling NEXON to become a global powerhouse in this vast and growing market, following its IPO on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 2011. Further, Mr. Kim and NEXON’s innovation has helped the Republic of Korea gain solid footing as a global leader in this industry.

NXC has become a force in children’s education and healthcare as well as venture philanthropy in Korea

In 2013, NXC inaugurated NEXON Computer Museum, the first computer museum in Asia, and in 2016, opened Purme Foundation NEXON Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital, the first children’s rehabilitation hospital in Korea. In 2018, NXC has founded both NEXON Foundation (Korea) and SOHO Impact Foundation (USA) in order to promote global social contribution activities. As per the announced visions of the two foundations, NXC will help the NEXON foundation to establish a second children’s rehabilitation hospital in Korea and assist SOHO Impact to donate bricks in promoting creative play on a global scale. Last but not least, through NEXON Cultural Diversity Fund, NXC aims to diversify culture and arts.
